Jaya Radha-Madhava

Jaya Radha-Madhava is a beautiful, deeply meditative bhajan composed by the great Vaisnava saint Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura.

It is traditionally sung right before the study of the Srimad Bhagavatam to create a serene, prayerful atmosphere. It describes the sweet, eternal pastimes of Lord Krishna in the pastoral setting of Vrindavan.

Here are the lyrics in transliterated Sanskrit alongside their English meaning:

The Lyrics

(jaya) rādhā-mādhava (jaya) kuñja-bihārī (jaya)
gopī-jana-vallabha (jaya) giri-vara-dhārī (jaya)
jaśodā-nandana, (jaya) braja-jana-rañjana,
(jaya) jāmuna-tīra-vana-cārī

(Often, the bhajan wraps up with a sweet, meditative repetition of the Holy Names:)

hare kṛṣṇa hare kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa hare hare hare rāma hare rāma rāma rāma hare hare
