Radha-Krishna Prana Mora

Radha-Krishna Prana Mora, a deeply intimate bhajan composed by Srila Narottama Dasa Thakura.

This song captures the essence of Manjari Bhava—the highest aspiration in Gaudiya Vaishnavism, where the soul longs not to interact with Krishna directly, but to act as a humble maidservant assisting in the divine, loving pastimes of Shri Shri Radha and Krishna.

The Lyrics

Verse-by-Verse Meaning

Verse 1

rādhā-kṛṣṇa prāṇa mora jugala-kiśora / jīvane maraṇe gati āra nāhi mora
The divine young couple, Shri Shri Radha and Krishna, are my very life and soul. In life or in death, I have no other shelter, destination, or purpose.

Verse 2

kālindīra kūle keli-kadambera vana / ratana-bedīra upara bosāibo du’jana
In the forest of playful kadamba trees on the banks of the Yamuna River (Kalindi), I will request the Divine Couple to sit upon a magnificent throne fashioned of brilliant jewels.

Verse 3

śyāma-gaurī-aṅge dibo candanera gandha / cāmara ḍhulāibo mukha heribo swānanda
I will gently anoint Their dark (Shyama) and golden (Gauri) forms with fragrant sandalwood paste. I will fan Them with a chamara (yak-tail whisk) and experience immense spiritual joy just by gazing upon Their beautiful faces.

Verse 4

gāthiyā mālatī-mālā dibo doṅhāra gale / adhare tuliyā dibo karpūra-tāmbūle
I will string Together exquisite garlands of fresh malati flowers and place them around Their necks. Then, I will offer seasoned betel nuts (tambula) scented with camphor directly to Their lotus lips.

Verse 5

lalitā viśākhā-ādi jata sakhī-bṛnda / ājñāya koribo sebā caraṇāravinda
Under the direct guidance and merciful orders of Lalita, Vishakha, and all the other confidential sakhis (cowherd girlfriends of Radha), I will serve Their lotus feet.

Verse 6

śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya-prabhura dāsera anudāsa / sevā-abhilāṣa kore narottama-dāsa
Identifying himself humbly, Narottama Dasa prays: "I am but the servant of the servant of the servants of Lord Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. My only desire, birth after birth, is to be allowed into this divine service."

Divine couple Krishna and Radha with attendants in a lush garden.
